Do I need a hair cut every time I colour my hair?
Depending on your hair colour choice, you might need it.
For hair colouring techniques it’s recommended a hair cut as well, because the hair appointments are every other 4 to 6 months.
My hair is long and box died dark brown/black, but I want grey blonde, is it possible at the first appointment and keep the length as well?
No, you cannot make the transition from black to silver blonde at one go.
Yes, you will need to have a hair cut especially if you did not cut it for a long time because the hair will be
stressed during the service and even if it’s done professionally, there will still be a compromise to make in
that sense.
I feel like my blonde is not lasting too long after I wash it, would a purple shampoo work?
First of all, a blonde hair requires the highest maintenance.
The toner is a professional service and has to be refreshed by your hair stylist when you feel it faded. This is depending on how often you are washing your hair, and external factors as well.
Purple shampoo is neutralizing yellow pigments and the brassiness only if your hair is very light blonde with
no yellow-orange pigment in it.
I use almost every day tools with heat input, what would you recommend for that?
Of course, ideally would be to harm your hair as less as possible, but I know is quite difficult with new trends nowadays.
I Highly recommend you NOT to use more than 185 Celsius degrees over your hair alongside with a creamy heat protection that will keep the protein in your hair during the styling process.
My hair feels rough when I touch it, is it damaged?
If your hair is natural, the roughness normally is given by the porosity which is the nature of the hair itself.
Your hair tendency is to go frizzy, unruly and hard to manage but this does NOT mean it is damaged. Especially if you have a coarse, wavy / curly you might feel it like is dehydrated al the time.
Porosity is when the hair cuticles are open (it’s like when a door is open) and the hair is loosing all it’s hydration.
That is why you have to include in your hair care routine hair products that will act like a primer over your hair, will seal the hair cuticles so your hair can be more manageable again.
Sulfate-free shampoos and weekly hair masks are a MUST for your hair.
A porous hair will hate the colour in it which is why you need to give more attention to your home
hair care routine almost everyday!
How do I choose the suitable home hair care routine for my hair?
The best home hair care routine is based on a hair consultation with your hair stylist – where your type of hair, the elasticity, the hair condition will be analysed.
My hair is bleached, how am I supposed to look after it at home?
Hopefully your hair benefited a professional colouring service in order for you to have a very light blonde in a safe manner.
Please use a shampoo that is designed for highlighted fine or thick hair and one time per week you HAVE to use a hair mask based on protein.
If you use heat over your hair, then you have to protect it with a thermic protection in a oil or creamy form.
Of course, your hair stylist will tell you precisely those products according to your hair type and hair condition.
When I use a hair mask, do I still have to apply conditioner as well?
No, because at the molecular level, a hair mask has smaller molecules that are able to go underneath of hair cuticles to replenish the ingredients that the hair loses throughout the colouring or thermal process.
How often should I get a haircut?
The hair is growing one or two centimetres per month, but as we are getting older growth rate is slowing down.
A very precise hair cut, like short hair cut or bob hair cut, is recommended to maintain every other 6 to 8 weeks but if your hair is long you can have a hair cut every other 10 to 12 weeks – depending on external factors as well.
Why is important to have my hair cut?
If you use more than twice per week tools with heat input over your hair, or if your hair is chemically treated it will become more brittle and easy to break when brushed.
I feel like my hair is not growing at all, will a haircut help?
There are many reasons that your hair feels like it does not want to grow, but usually a happy hair is coming from a healthy scalp where the hair follicle is.
A regular hair trim will refresh your hair because those dried ends are an obstacle against your hair growth.
The shampoo is designed for scalp and the conditioner / hair mask is designed for hair length.
Of course, depending on your scalp issue the hair stylist advise can help. If not, is recommended to visit a specialized doctor.
